Open source · Escrow by default · Kleros arbitration · Community-governed

The freelancing marketplace where builders get paid fairly and every rule is verifiable.

Taskuler is an open-source, community-owned marketplace for getting work done. Customers post jobs with a TSKR bounty held in escrow, builders bid and deliver, and payment is released by rules anyone can read in the code. Nothing depends on trusting a company.

  • Browsing the Market is free
  • Anyone can trigger an escrow timeout
  • Completed work becomes your on-chain work history
escrow / life of a job
  1. PostedCustomer adds a TSKR bounty. It goes straight into escrow.
  2. Bid acceptedBuilder puts down a deposit to bid. Customer accepts a bid or counter.
  3. DeliveredBuilder submits proof of delivery.
  4. PaidBounty moves from escrow to the builder's wallet, with NFT badges.

timeout Customer silent N days after delivery → builder is paid.

timeout Deadline + grace period missed → customer is refunded.

dispute No settlement → Kleros arbitration.

How the escrow rules work, as described in the mission statement. An illustration, not a live job.

Why open source?

The simple answer is trust.

Trust is the single most important feature of a public protocol or service, and the only way to trust a service is to validate it. So Taskuler is open source, and we want as many people reading the code as possible.

When it comes to software bugs, the best disinfectant is sunlight, and builders are the sun.

Taskuler will create an open-source freelancing platform and provide tools to help with every step along the way, built in phases so the core marketplace works well before anything else is added.

How it works

Post, bid, deliver, build a work history

  1. Post a job

A customer describes the task, sets a deadline and the required builder deposit, and adds a TSKR bounty. The bounty goes straight into escrow.

  2. Builders bid

Builders browse the Market for free and put down a deposit to bid. The customer accepts a bid or a counter.

  3. Deliver and get paid

The builder submits proof of delivery. Once it's accepted, the bounty moves from escrow to the builder's wallet, along with NFT badges.

  4. Build a work history

Every completed job is added to the builder's on-chain work history. Badges unlock real benefits, like lower deposits and better bid ranking.

Customer pays to place a job on the Market.

Builder pledges to complete a job.

Arbitrator settles disputes between the two.

Protections built in

Rules that protect both sides, enforced by code

Deposits work like a deposit for a hotel: they are kept to ensure good behavior. Escrow and deposit timeouts work without an admin or a frontend, so funds never depend on a Taskuler website staying online.

Protections built into Taskuler
ProtectionWhat it does
Free browsingAnyone can look at the Market. Deposits are required only to post or bid.
Deposits in stable valueDeposits are set in stable value, not a fixed amount of TSKR, and scale with job size, so small jobs stay cheap to take on.
Escrow timeoutsIf the builder misses the deadline plus a grace period, the customer is refunded. If the customer doesn't respond within N days of delivery, the builder is paid automatically. Anyone can trigger either.
Partial deliveryThe customer and builder can agree on a partial payout. If they can't agree, either side can open a dispute.
Settlement firstBefore a dispute, either side can make a settlement offer, and the other can accept or counter.
Kleros arbitrationDisputes go to Kleros through the ERC-792 standard. Arbitrators are selected by reputation and randomness. Appeals follow Kleros's rules: the appellant pays double and the jury grows each round.

Roadmap

Built in phases, marketplace first

We're building in phases so the core marketplace works well before anything else is added.

Phase 1 · Launch

  • Market: a place to post and bid on jobs. Browsing is free.
  • Wallet: software to handle the TSKR token.
  • Escrow: smart contracts that hold each job's bounty until the work is accepted, a ruling is made, or a timeout releases it.
  • Work History: completed jobs posted on chain, with NFT badges.
  • Arbitration: Kleros, through the ERC-792 standard, with an option to appeal.

Phase 2 and later

  • Staking / Governance: deposit TSKR to gain gTSKR and vote on Treasury-funded tasks.
  • Task Manager: a tool to help plan and prioritize tasks.
  • Calendar: schedule and display tasks on a calendar.
  • Social: form groups and collaborate.
  • Search: search all things Taskuler.

Tokens and governance

Use it, stake it, govern it

TSKR

The token used to interact with the Taskuler network: post bounties, pay deposits to bid, and subscribe to Taskuler products.

gTSKR

Earned by staking TSKR and used to vote on which tasks the Treasury funds. It builds up with the amount staked, subject to a minimum lock period and a cap, and is boosted by completed jobs and arbitration rulings that align with the majority. Unstaking forfeits it.

Treasury

A small fee from every job goes into the Treasury, and the community decides how it's spent. Funding for new features and improvements is released in stages, and each stage needs a gTSKR vote.

Protection against fake accounts: stakes are time-locked, votes are weighted by reputation (work history and badges), and every task has a cap on how much Treasury funding it can receive.

DRAFT

Token distribution: draft proposal, percentages not final

AllocationShare (draft)Vesting / lockup (draft)

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly

Is Taskuler open source?

Yes. Taskuler is open source so that anyone can check how jobs, escrow and payouts work. We want as many people reading the code as possible.

Do I need tokens just to look around?

No. Browsing the Market is free. You only need a deposit when you post a job or place a bid.

How big are deposits?

Deposits are set in stable value, not a fixed amount of TSKR, and they scale with the size of the job, so the deposit for a small job stays small. NFT badges from completed work can lower your deposits.

What if the customer disappears after I deliver?

If the customer doesn't respond within N days of delivery, the escrow pays you automatically. Anyone can trigger that timeout, so it doesn't depend on Taskuler's website being online.

Who settles disputes?

Kleros, a decentralized court, through the ERC-792 arbitration standard. Both sides can make a settlement offer first, and either side can appeal a ruling.

Which blockchain does it run on?

That's still being decided. Which chain or L2 to launch on is one of the open questions in the mission statement.

Is there a token sale?

Nothing on this page is an offer or a commitment to sell tokens. The token distribution is a draft proposal, and a public token sale needs legal and regulatory review before any commitment is made.
